Exclamation Honda Civic 1.7 Vtec-i 2002 Sensor Problem - Need Advice.

I own Civic 1.7 Vtec-I. I Drove at 100-110km/h, Suddently my RPM meter running low and the engine shutdown and Multifunction Indicator light ON (Yellow engine symbol) and Low Oils Pressure was ON (Red symbol) too. Stearring very heavy to pull.

My 1st thought was Crank Sensor problem, then i went to service centre and change Crank Sensor (near timing belt).

The next day, i drove 60-80km/h, and my engine shutdown and Multifunction Indicator Light was ON again. My RPM meter was unstabble until now.

Can anyone advice?

Regards,
Kyle

You need to find out why your CEL (Check engine light) is on. Fix the codes that it is throwing and you may fix your problem.

Does the car restart after it stalls? Does it only do it when the car is at normal operating temperature? Does it happen after driving the car for a long time, or does it happen all the time?

More information is needed to really make sense of what is going on. But ultimately, your best bet is to find out what codes your car is throwing and go from there.

Yes, it restart after a few minutes, Temperature was OK. Its happen twice this month. Before this it was ok.

I don't have the computerize software to check the codes. Usually i just drive to service centre coz they have the software.

I can't remember if it's Auto Zone or Advanced Auto, but one of them will do a free scan on your car if your check engine light is on. They can tell you what codes it is throwing. If you are near one of those establishments, you might want to stop in to see if they can help you pull those codes. That will give you a good place to start.

Exclamation Re: Honda Civic 1.7 Vtec-i 2002 Sensor Problem - Need Advice.

Guy's,

I'm not quite sure about this. I was thinking my sensor is problems, but today i drove the car at 40-50 km/h... the check engine light was ON, the car shut down for 3-5 minutes. I restart the car, my engine was shaking like earthquake. (My transmission at P). After that i can drive like normal.

Transmission:
P - A sound came out from engine/gear box (Sounds like knocking repeatably)
R - OK
N - OK
D - OK
D3 - OK

Speeds:
40-100 km/h - Normal drive (But RPM meter unstable)
100 and above - Under-power.

From the sounds of it, I would say your transmission is doing funny stuff.

Did you get the codes read yet?
