just keep the maintenance higher than the factory suggests. the car should be able to pull but think of it as running laps all day your gonna want food water and rest, you car is gonna want tranny fluid, oil changes and brake line flushes.

I was lucky enough to have the police package on my car when I put on a hitch to tow 3 quads. It already has a transmission, oil and power steering cooler on it. A transmission cooler is never a bad idea on any car or truck with an automatic. The power steering cooler might be a little overkill, but you can add that at the same time. You can buy a cooler that cools 2 types of fluids. Route the transmission hoses though one set of pipes and the power steering through the other set. They never touch and never mix (unless you really messed up and hooked it up way wrong)If your only going to tow your toys once or twice a year, on flat roads, you can probably get away with leaving everything stock. If you go for longer trips, and go in to the hills, shell out the extra 100 to 200 dollars now and save yourself thousands a few years from now.

if it going to be towing more than a bike rack or something relativly light, otherwise if you purchase the hitch and don't install those cooling hose---it voids your warrenty and if your transmission goes due to strain from towing you'll be responsible for the cost to replace. Better to just get the entire package and have it installed

2000 pounds is not that much for a 6 cylinder Pilot to tow. I believe the manual says it will tow up to 3500 pounds. Just use the maintenance schedule for severe conditions. The transmission fluid will definitely need to be changed more often. The manual says your vehicle should be equipped with transmission cooler and power steering fluid cooler.See pages 173 to 179 of the owner's manual found here https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...505O00173A.pdf
