Default Oil life on a Honda Civic SI?

Three days ago I brought my 2006 Honda Civic SI somewhere to get my oil changed, but my oil life meter has not changed from 60% back to 100% yet. I have driven at least 60+ miles and have tried reseting the displays which has only reset the trip miles. Did they really try and hustle me?

No, it just hasn't been reset. On most vehicles there's a manual reset procedure, most of the time involving holding the pedal to the floor for x amount of time with the key on, not running. Sometimes you have to push the pedal to the floor something like 3 times in 10 seconds once you turn the key on...

No.The mechanic either didn't know about, or forgot to reset your gage.It should tell you in your owners manual how to reset it. Just do it yourself. Having the oil life 60 miles off wont hurt anything.

No you need to reset the oil life indicator..I have to do the same thing on my Odyssey..it was actually kinda tricky to figure out at first. Google how to reset it, you'll find your answer...or look in the owners manual. Seemed my manual had some crappy instructions so I ended up googling it and found a better explanation on how to do it. It's simple, just a matter of knowing how to do it. It involves holding the ODO button for a certain length of time, releasing it, etc.

On the left of your dash is a pair of buttons, one for selecting/changing the odometer and the other for cycling from MPH to KMH and back.Turn the key on.Push the select button until your display indicated the remaining oil life percentage. When it is displayed press and HOLD the select button until it begins to flash. Once it starts flashing release the button and press and hold it again. The display will clear and if you release the button and cycle through the display with the select button you will see oil life 100%.

the life reminder does not physicaly measure the amount of oil that is in the vehicle, it is simply a calculation based on the your driving habits from the last time it was reset.Any local dealer will be able to reset that light for you in about 2 minutes. One thing you could try...the car on battery powermake sure the display is on oil lifehold the select/reset button down till the oil life flashes, release the button than hit it again and it should go back to 100%
