Default lowering my honda civic?

how much is too much when lowering my car? i have a 2000 civic ex 2dr and i want to lower it but i still want to be able to drive it over speed bumps ect..i also am planning on putting a lip kit on it before the suspension. im also concerned about rim size with the suspension.

3/4 -1 inch drop should be just fine w/o sacrificing drivability. Putting a lip will obviously make the front end have less clearance so you will probably have scraping there. You should first get the wheels you want then do the drop. you could probably do better this way since you would already know how much of a gap you will have with your new wheels and you can decide on how big of a drop from thereIf you want to lower it/slam it alot, save your money for airbags.

You can do at most maybe two or three inches. You have to realize though anything over around an inch will have a negative camber and or toe. Meaning the wheels will then slant inwards, to fix this you will need a camber kit for all wheels and an alignment by a shop with an alignment machine, which most have. You can drive without the camber kit and alignment but there will be uneven tire wear.
