I am told I need 4 new tires on my 2008 civic (even though it is less than 1 year old); I have 4 brand new accord tires in storage (size 225/50/17). The tires on my civic are 195/65r15. Can I use the other size? Can I ask Honda to put these tires on instead of the expensive ones they want to sell me? Lastly, does it not seem like my tires should still be warrantied?

Your two sets of tires are a different diameter.17 inch tires will not fit on a 15 inch wheel.Get another opinion on your 1 year old tires unless you failed to mention that you have excessive mileage already logged on the odometer. Check the tire "wear indicators" also. Here is a picture of a worn tire and you can note the 4 wear indicators between the treads. If they are level with the tread then it's time for new tires.http://www.jaxquickfit.com.au/images...-tyre.jpgTires are designed to wear out and yours are no different other than the fact they offer greater rolling resistance and thus are a bit more pricey.Tire, brakes, fluids, and bulbs are a few items not covered by your warranty.

You probably won't be able to use your 15 inch rims instead of the 17's because there may not be enough clearance for everything behind the rim. If it hits against your brake calipers or something else it won't turn. Fork out the money for the correct ones or they may void your warranty, also.

Honda did not make the tires. Any Manufacture warranty needs to be the company who made the tires. Honda Hybrids use low rolling resistance tires specifically made for that model car. You can go on line "tirerack.com" and please do not re engineer your car by placing on a different size or type tire. Just why are the tires bald or ruined by impact? Some people put 40 thousand miles a year but if you have less than 12,000 miles I would be calling Honda of North America and get a customer service rep involved.
