You can buy a chip that enhances the speed of your car. It deals with the oil and fuel mixture and such. You can find them online and sometimes at stores like Kragen, Pep Boys, etc. They usually run about $300.00 but will have a 50 H.P. gain.

go to your local shop to tune it up, also consider removing unnecessary junks (especially something heavy) from your carWhich model are you having? is that an used civic? I will consider an engine swap to a B18C if it's an used civic with no B18C. Also, check out some of the well known honda-related forums and see how they increase the hp, google for the forums, they will show up at top of the search results.

It all depends on your situation.Your first choice would be a straight engine swap with performance upgrades after that. Chances are you are looking for something less expensive. A cold air intake is a start, you can maxize that with a more free flowing exhaust and headers. It also depends on the year. If you have a newer civic with fuel injection, there are many aftermarket performance chips to take advantage of. A personal favorite cheap upgrade of mine is to rip out the back seat, and reduce as much excess weight as possible. Lightweight rims would help and make the car look better. Also to go more aggressive cams, lightweight timing belt and flywheel can ad real boosts. Don't forget to look into larger injectors if you are running a fuel injection motor. But for real power you need something massive. Even with all those cheap upgrades, you're still looking at maybe a car that can run in the low to high 15's if you're very lucky. Try looking into a engine swap to take advantage of the cars light weight. If you want to keep it after all the money you will spend over time upgrading your car with little things, you might be better off in the long run spending the money up front and doing it right.

don't waste your money because modding a civic wont get you performing with the big boy cars. you are going to waste your money and your car will lose value because no one wants a modified civic. Sale it, buy a BMW 3 series, lexus, accord v6, infiniti, s2000....most of the upscale cars will tear apart a civic because they are way better all the way around (larger brakes, VSA, larger displacement engines, way better suspension designs (I am not talking about struts and springs), rear wheel drive, better sound systems....etc. by the time you try to increase the speed and vehicle dynamics of your civic to the level of these cars, you would have spent an arm and leg, and the ride quality would be destroyed. plus, you don't want to look like a high school kid on the road. grow up and get a grown up car (even if it's used)P.S. cold air intakes and headers and exhaust systems wont do shit but cost you 1k. why? it will probably increase 8-10hp overall but you will only see the gain close to redline, meaning it will make a whole lot more noise. Basically smoke and mirrors without any gain. I drove a stock infiniti g35 and left a heavily modified civic in the dust without even pushing it hard on a track. the civic had the engine swap and special exaust and made a whole lot of noise but couldn't go any where.save your money, don't make the common mistake.
