I removed the pcv valve on my 93 civic cx. the location was determined by the 92 service manual. (below fuel rail behind valve cover driver's side). when i shook the pcv valve there was no rattling. upon inspection i determined that this 90 degree pcv valve was hollow. in other words there was nothing in it at all!!? all the documentation i can find suggests there should be a spring and check valve inside but this is just a 90 degree piece of plastic. does anybody know what is going on??

I have a question on this too! I just ordered a PCV valve and PCV joint from HOnda. One is suppose to go into the breather chamber (black box above the oil filter) and one is suppose to go in the slot on the intake mainfold. Well the 90 degree angeled part, that seems it would go in the intake manifold, is empty, it is just a joint. But per Hondas instructions they are saying it should go on the breather chamber. And the straight PCV valve (it is NOT 90 degrees) they are saying goes into the intake manifold. I'm confused. It seems in this case the PCV valve is designed to go into the Breather camber, and the joint thats 90 degrees into the Intake manifold. This is opposite how all other Hondas I worked on are designed. SOmeone please clarify- should the PCV Valve for the CX's go into the breather chamber, and the 90 degree joint into the manifold? Help!
