My 2000 civic si which is equiped with a b16a2 and has a damaged crankshaft. My mechanic told me to take the crankshaft to a machine shop and grind it down to put bigger bearings on it (I am not positive this will last for a long time). I've found a b16a block from a 1994 CRX for $250 from a friend of mine and I want to get some opinions on whether to just take the crankshaft to a machine shop and keep my old engine in it or swap it with a b16a. The price is same for either options.Where can I buy the crankshaft for it?? I've tried alot of places and no luck. Any referral??

First off honda stopped making CRX's in 1991. The b16a motor uses a obd0 wiring so the block might not have all of the same sensor and other mechanical and electrical items that are needed for your odb2 wiring. I would stick with fixing the damaged crank althought a bad crank could have resulted with much greater problems with your block.

Just buy a new crank. They are about $700 and its less than having the machine shop grind the old one and getting oversized bearings. The 2000 SI is obd2 while the other B16 is OBD1. You will need to swap the oil pump, crank position sensor, and resurface the block to get a perfect fit to prevent oil leaks. This again will cost more than the crank. It has to be disassembled anyway why not put new parts in it? For the idiot below me, he said THE BLOCK, the distributor is on the HEAD, the oil pump DOES have to be changed to convert it over from OBD1 to OBD2, call ANY shop. Next time you run your mouth, know what you are talking about.

First I would rebuild it and the crank can be shaved and still be reliable at a machine shop. If you want the other engine, YOU DONT have to swap the oil pump and all that BS, all you have to do it swap the distributor and the injectors and the injector clips!!TO THE B16TUNER NOOBI run a shop and know alot more then you, YOU DON'T NEED ANYMORE THEN A DISTRIBUTOR, INJECTORS AND CLIPS YOU SILLY INTERNET GOOGLE TUNER! STOP ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT!! EMAIL ME DONDAWG00@COMCAST.NET AND I WILL SCHOOL YOU!!!! OIL PUMP LMAO YOUR A GOOGLE TUNER FANBOI, STOP ACTING, CYP SENSOR IS IN THE DIZZY, YOU NEED IT TO CONVERT, YOU DONT NEED A OIL PUMP YOU DUMB AZZ NOOB, ALSO OBD1 TO OBD2 LMAO YEAH THATS WINNER, ITS CALLED RUNNING THE B16 FROM THE CRX, CHANGING THE INJECTOR CLIPS FROM HIS STOCK WIRE HARNESS, RUNNING OBD1 STYLE INJECTORS, AND A OBD1 DIZZY, CONVERSION HARNESS FROM JKOBD OR RYWIRE AND A OBD1 CHIPPED P28.------- DONE
