Default Can the OEM style Civic fog light covers be painted?

I want to buy the OEM fog lights for my black 93 Civic, but cant stand the silver color of the covers. (Look up the fog lights on Ebay to see what I'm talking about). Can the plastic covers be painted a dark color such as black? If so what is the best way? Thanx

Technically anything on your car can be painted if you really want, but im not sure if you painted them black the light would still come through okay. I would check with a local body shop or paint shop that works on cars and see what they think. I'm sure if they are silver now there must be some way to turn them another color.

Yes, you can paint them. Just be sure to properly sand, primer, paint, and clearcoat. Be sure to use acetone to get all grease off. Then start with a low grit sandpaper and move to a fine grit and you'll be fine.Good Luck

you can paint them they are plastic, they can be painted, i have seen it before although i think it looks good black. black or grey usually goes good with any color although i have seen them painted to match the car. if you do decide to paint them just have them cleaned off good. yes black would be ideal.

Yes they can be painted. Just remove the plastic shroud from the fog light assembly, paint it, reassemble and install. Easy.Be sure to scuff it with a 3M scuffing pad, wipe it down with a tack cloth, and put at least 3 coats of paint. When dry, wet sand with 1500 grit sandpaper and clearcoat it. All materials are available at your local automotive paint dealer. If you don't do it correctly, the paint will flake off very quickly, probably after the first wash.
