Default My 92 Honda Civic Loses about 1 quart a week or so can it be the Valve Cover Gasket?

I am not exactly sure if it is a week or week and a half I don't keep good track of it but I know I do not see any oil ever under the car cause I check it very often(every day that is). I also know the valve cover gasket does leak and it does burn a little oil too! Can the valve cover gaket be the cause of losing so much oil??????

If you are noticing the leakage of the valve cover gasket, I do not see your reasoning for adding oil and not changing the gasket. It is cheaper to replace the gasket than the oil topping you are doing it.Best wishes

well good bet you know where and what the problem is already and valve cover gaskets are cheap and most are easy to replace at home most any aprts store will have them and dont over tighten they just hand tight and really wouldnt hurt to just check the bolts now but most likely bad and that will make one lose oil and keeping a eye on that is like just as important has watching the gas guage you run out of oil you run out of car

It's very possible. Try to tighten the bolts to see if they're loose. Don't over tighten them because it can warp the valve cover.

Your valve gasket can be the problem. But if you clean out the rubber gasket, re-tighten the bolts properly on the valve cover, and see no leakage around the gasket but seem to mysteriously still lose 1 quart a week, you may have other worn gaskets.Buy a gasket kit which includes gaskets for your cylinder block and bushings for your valves. Replace your old ones and see if that helps maintain the level of oil in your engine. If you're burning oil, it will be oil leaking into one or more of your combustion chambers and out your tail pipe as dark smoke.Good luck!

its probabaly exactly what you think it is hondas tend to be bad on burning oil sometimes it can be array of things damaged main bearings or rod bearings is the worst case cause there will be metal shavings in motor causing oil burn could be bushings for valves like the guy earlier said also bad seals O rings ect.. just check bolt tightning on valve cover if it still leakes buy a new one it is really cheap and easy to install if you still burn oil afterwords check everything mentioned starting from worst

also i need help i have gsr head on ls block blew the head gasket what do i need gsr head gasket or ls
