most likely your engine is either a ZC, or a d15b7, or a d16.open the hood and look for a small square in the front of the engine similar to this.http://asia.vtec.net/topics/engcode1...ngcode.jpgjust like that only you prob dont have a b16.

Locate your upper radiator hose, and look in the area below it, right where the transmission bolts to the engine block. There should be what look like a flat square area, with numbers on it on the engine block side. The first row should read something like "D15B1, D15B2, or D16A6" if you live in the United States.It may be hard to see, they are usually caked in oil, dirt, and what have you, but it is there.Your 1991 Civic Hatchback, if it is a U.S. car, should either have a D15B1, D15B2, or a D16A6 engine in it, as long as it is stock, and has never been swapped.
