the b series motor will not bolt up the the d-series transmission. unless your car came with a b in it (SiR, CTR, 99-00 Si), you will have to change the transmission along with the motor.there are adapters available to bolt the b motor to the d tranny. that's the long way around, but for some applications it's a good option.

yes the b16 will need a b series transmission. The d series trasmission don't have the plate developed for this series, though the h series have.The b16 engine will work great with a b18c1 transmission, if you want better gas mileage with a better in town driving.The b18b1 has longer gears for best gas mileage. You also need shift linkages, half shaft, axels.. goodluck
