Default Overheated 99 Accord, Warped head???

My girlfriend overheated her car with Inline 4 double ohc. The radiator shot craps. She had to drive to a safe spot to stop with the kids. She now thinks the head is ruined and the head gasket is going to fail at any moment.
What is the probability of this??? I have rebuilt several domestic v-6 and v-8 engines. I think I could repair/replace the head gasket and or head for her.
Her 22 yr old son says if the head or head gasket fails the car will have to go to a shop for repairs, as head R&R is to complicated for him to do.
Anyone help with insight????
