Question 86 Accord LX - No Power to Fuel Pump

Hello, Help!
When i got this car i was told it needed a new fuel pump. It would run intermittently.
So i got a new pump installed it, and realized i was getting any power at all back to it.. so, i checked the fuses all good, dropped the tank and traced the wiring all seems good. Cleaned the connections to the pump.. I was told it could possibly be the Fuel Pump Relay..So i replaced that.. nope. nothin.

Im stumped.
Car runs great if i put a bit of gas into the carb.. but thats not gonna get me around town

help?
maybe: does anyone know where the Fuel Pump Ground is?

-Bump - nothin huh...

update: you know the clicking you get when you turn the key ( the fuel pump initializing etc) well obviously that was non-existent since the pump wasn't getting any power so i thought it might be the Main Relay but i can't find the damn thing.. i know where its supposed to be, im starting to think maybe only the Lxi model which is fuel injected has this main relay and mine..which is carburated (but has an electric pump..) may not operate the same way...
im a bit confused.
Some of the autoparts stores say that the part# of the part i was given (by napa- as replacement for my make model..damnit) is only applicable to the lxi. mine is LX.

the main relay is located under the dash near the fuse box.
if you suspect a problem with the fuel pump, verify it makes a brief whirring noise as the pump comes on and pressurizes the system.
if there is not sound:
jack up the rear and place securely jackstands.
remove the left rear wheel
remove the fuel pump cover and detach black and black/yellow wires
using a voltimeter use the positive probe on the black/yellow and the negative on the black wire.
you should see voltage available
only if there is not voltage available go ahead and check the main relay.

I have already checked for current to the pump, nothin.
And i have come to find that the 86 LX model doesn't have a main relay like the LXi and DX, the main relay in the LX is in fact the Fuel Pump Relay/Fuel Cutoff relay behind the fuse box. (Silver box- 4 or 5 prong)
I found this out after purchasing a "main relay" then digging around all up under the driver dash looking for it.. supposed to be under driver kickpanel right above hood pulley.. only on lxi.. wish the guy at napa wouldv told me that he was looking up parts for an Lxi model. wouldv saved me some frustration.

Ive been told it could be the Ignition coil/Cap/Rotor?

was told that could possibly distort "rpm/crank signal" to pump relay causing the pump not the initialize.

There is continuity up to the fuse box then nothin afterwards.
X fuses good
X pump relay replaced
X new pump
X checked all wiring to pump

argh

There is no whirring sound of pump initializing and pressurizing the system because as stated there is no power to pump. And LX model doesn't have main relay besides the Fuel Pump Relay/Fuel Cut-Off Relay connected to the back of the fuse box.

FYI I jumped term 1 and 2 behind pump relay and pump began to run.

ended up ghetton riggin a jumper with two wires and a 15a fuse

according to a post on iatn if the Ignition coil fails then the blue wire which runs to the fuel pump relay won't send the signal to initiate the pump.

Upon further investigation ive noticed that the Ignit. Coil has messy yellow scribbles on it as if pulled out of a junk yard.

given that it seems like ive checked every other possibility, im going to go get a new ignition coil tomorrow. then ill update if it in fact solves the problem.

Given that im not getting many replys I figure i will continue to document whats happening for anyone else that may come across the same problem
