I had to replace my driver's window regulator and when I reassembled the door the lock stop working completely. I cannot lock or unlock with the remote, the interior switch or the external lock. I removed and disassembled the latch and actuator thinking something inside the motor had snapped but no luck there. When I reassembled it I tested it outside the door and it worked, as soon as I put it back in the door it no longer works.
I'm out of ideas and completely frustrated any help is greatly appreciated. Also any one have a source for those little plastic clips that hold the actuator rods in at the 90 degree angle, dealer gets $4 each and takes a day or two. I've broken two so far. Thanks! |

Well its fixed. The actuator rods and their connections are apparently very sensitive and I apparently damaged the latch mechanism. Installed a new latch and everything is golden.

While my 96 Civic DX 4 door also had a driver's side door lock problem, the fix for mine was replacing the door hinges. With my car, if you pushed down the lock with the door open, no problem. If you closed the door and got the lock pushed down, good luck getting it open again! Yes, alignment is critical for all the lock mechanisims as well as the door itself and the latch.
