Default What makes the 1988 CRX DX 103lbs. heavier than the same year HF?

What components make up the extra weight?

The HF is deliberately lighter to increase gas mileage, hence the lettering "HF" for high fuel mileage.

the front bumper beams and stays (brackets) are different (HF is smaller)the rear bumper beams are different. (HF is smaller)the HF didn't have the rear cargo cover assembly.the HF didn't have a piece of insulation on the passenger side firewall.the carpets are different. (less padding on the HF)the spare tire covers are different (plastic / wood )the intake and exhaust manifolds are smaller on the HF.the rear brake drums are aluminum on the HF, cast iron on the others.the 13" steel wheels on the HF were 1/2" narrower than on the others.the tires on the HF were smaller.the front brakes and knuckles different.the steering wheel only had two spokes, the other had 3.the HF did not have a tilt steering wheel.several pieces of the core suport, front structures, firewall, floorboard, and rear frame are different.
