Default if i put header in my car do i have to put a better exhaust in the back?

i have a 99 civic ex coupe, either getting a 4-1 ceramic header or a 4-2-1 stainless steel header, also which one of these should i go for?

i would go for the 4-2-1 header(s). they are better for exhaust flow and are usually easier to find as well as cheaper. and if your exhaust is not being blocked by your cat or your muffler there is really no need to install more except for looks and sound. hope that answers your ?

4-1 is better for top end power but you'll lose a little on the lower end. 4-2-1 is overall better for street because you'll have power throughout the power range but not so much on top like you would with a 4-1. To take full advantage of the header you should get a full catback exhaust system. Since you'll be moving exhaust pulses quicker out of the engine you'll need a higher flowing intake, besides stock, to fully compliment the header and exhaust system.
