Default Timing Belt Installation Mistake Assistance Requested

I have a 97 honda accord 4cyl vtec that I changed the timing belt on. I utilized the factory checkpoints for the water pump, oil pump, crankshaft pulley and camshaft pulley and they all lined up when I put it on. The only mistake that I can think of is one of two things either: a) when I had the belt on and was turning the crankshaft pulley to set the belt I most likely accidentally turned the pulley an odd number of times or b) when I started I must have started with the system in tdc but not on compression on #1.

Now I have electrical power, but when I try to start the engine nothing happens except electrical goes down. I can not turn the crankshaft now either. Does anyone have any advice? Please help.

David

unless you turned the engine w/o the belt on everything should have been fine, but if you did happen to turn the camshaft gear or the crankshaft gear w/o both of them turning in tandem then there would be problems since your engine is an interference engine. So all I'm saying is that you could have a valve in the way of your piston travel causing you to not be able to turn the engine. this being because it's not in time. Hope i was clear enough. it's hard to explain though

Thank you for your reply,

I am quite sure that I did not turn the camshaft or crankshaft pulleys w/o the belt on; however, do you have any suggestions on what I should check for or look for to see if I have an interference. Any suggestions on what else to look for?

All honda's are interference engines, but other than that i'm not sure exactly why you wouldn't be able to turn the engine at all. Can you give more details. Like.... did it ever turn over after the replacement or was it stuck right after? does the starter click or does all power just dissipate?

Wow, well the shop that I was working at was closed on Mon and Tuesday and so I was not able to open it up until yesterday morning. Apparently a bolt had fallen into the lower dust cover and jammed itself against the lower timing belt drive pulley and the case. After all of my concerns w/o being able to inspect it the problem really was that simple! Considering this was my first timing belt I am quite happy with the results.

Thank you for your help.
