The lowest tread any of my tires have is 3 mm. The rest are around 4-5 mm. Is this enough to get through a winter with lots of snow safely?

This question totally depends on how often you're going to be driving on snow/slick conditions, if your allseasons didn't handle well in the snow to begin with, and if you're in urban plowed vs rural unplowed areas. If you're in a city like Chicago that gets snow only once a week and the roads are plowed by the next morning, and your tires worked fine in past seasons, you can probably get by without incident but you're taking a gamble. 3mm is about the smallest you want to go though...that's just under the standard 4/32 limit. If you're in Canada where they're constantly pounded by snow and very low temps, then I'd probably put winter tires on.
