I want to lower my Civic by just 1" or 1.5". Can I just buy the appropriate lowering springs and replace the stock ones with them? Or will I have to mess with spindles or whatnot? I realize coilovers are a much better option, but that's out of the question right now so lets leave that out. Is lowering it a matter of simply replacing the springs? Thanx

while you have the strut assemblies apart to swap out the springs, trim down the bumpstops riding on the shaft.while you have the car apart, loosen all the lower and upper control arm mounting bolts. this will allow the bushings in the ends to unlock from the chassis.put the car back together and put it back on the ground. tighten the control arm bolts with full weight on the suspension.if you don't trim the stops or reclock the bushings, your suspension will not be operating as it was originally designed, resulting in an overly stiff ride.
