Default Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my Honda Civic 2002 ex coupe Auto ?

I have a honda civic 2002 ex coupe at 79,000 miles. My tires are only 1500 miles old (like new). My oil change will be due in another 500miles (currrently at 2500miles).Can some one tell me why am I getting only 26-27 mile per gallon in mix local and highway drive. I lived in Buffalo (so its more highway then local) Is that normal? I was expecting 29-31 mpg at least.and I don't floor the gas, I drive as slow as possible.Thank you everyone.

Don't believe the chevron ads about getting more mileage if you drive slow or 55 mph. That doesn't seem to hold true for Honda Civics because of it's aerodynamic exterior - it may only apply to flat boxy cars and trucks that fight against the wind at high speeds. So try driving a little faster and make wise use of the built-up momentum. Avoid using the brakes as much as possible (unless you need to of course) - cruise as often as you can and let the gradual drop of kinetic energy stop your car.Avoid hills as much as possible. The higher elevation your car has to travel the more fuel needed to provide torque to get over the hill.If you have heavy items in the backseat or trunk, remove them to reduce the overall weight of your car.Reduce the use of your Air Conditioner when you're not on the freeway. This puts added stress to the crankshaft pulley thereby forcing your computer to supply more fuel to provide sufficient torque for your alternator.Check other tips that can make a difference:http://www.hondacivicrepairs.com/sav...ivic&id=17Good luck!
