because your engine control module lost its adaptive memory when the battery was disconnected. You'll have to 'teach' the on-board computer what the idle is and then it will "learn" other adaptations for shift quality based on the way you drive.to do the "idle relearn' procedure, start and run the car to normal operating temperatureshut all of the accessories off--radio, air conditioning, blower motor fan, headlights etc. anything electrical has to be turned OFFthenshut the car off. then start the car without using the accelerator pedal. Allow the car to idle for at least 7 minutes without touching the accelerator pedal. after 7 minutes you can shut the engine off. Then you can restart the car and the idle should be 'learned'.note: if the radiator fan comes on at all when you are running the car at idle you'll have to shut the engine off and let the car cool down before you can try this again.once the idle is learned you may find all of your strange feelings go away and the car may return to 'normal'. or it may take a few days to learn the way you drive again.hope that helps

It's definitely all in your head, when i got a new battery, i swore my car was faster, but everything still ran the same. It's just peace of mind and new stuff on your car make you feel it differently.

he's definitely right depending on what year your car is, the newer ones have this feature mostly and it is called ECM relearn, it's normal don't worry about it.
