which one is better? does the newer one get better mileage? what else is different about it besides the Front Grill.

Mechanically they are the same. The 09 has some minor trim differences but thats it.

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) was added in 2009 for increased protection. The 2009 model has a redisgned front bumper and grill, a USB port for the audio system, a redesigned steering wheel, and some additional options available,such as bluetooth capability, leather-trimmed interior, leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats and side mirrors.Also, I assume you will not be amazed to learn that with the higher gas prices they have increase the price of the 2009 model.If you care about the new features the 2009 is better.It is the same. Based on what I have seen at the sources listed below those are the only differences, but there could have been other changes not listed.
