i'm working on my 95 Honda civic 1.6 i notice the thermostat housing has a crack will B & J weld work on it or do i need to change the head. I need to apply the B&J it to the part that connected to the engine block close to the screw holes.

First it is JB weld, not BJ weld. You will make some store clerk giggle for asking for BJ weld.If it is the housing for the t-stat you can attempt to JB weld the housing. Since its a Civic and you kids like to play with the four bangers, make sure you not trying to put in a goofy aftermarket thermostat. If the thermostat is the wrong size you can break the housing when you tighten it down...If the housing does not hold, they can be ordered from a parts store or can be found in junkyards...If you actually have a cracked head/block, best attempt would be to JB weld it and see if it will hold. If JB weld fails on the head/block, you will need a mechcanic to attempt to weld the crack (not sure if your block is iron or al-Mg alloy). If these don't work, its a gonna be an expensive day for you. But hopefully the above works out!
