Default Why is the UAW angry with me for buying a Honda car?

It was made in the USA. My decal says "Veteran from 1969.They (UAW) tell me I can't be a veteran and drive a foreign car.

It IS a foreign car and your hard earned money is going overseas. Buy American and support the people who built this economy. Our economy is a mess because of thoughtless people like you.

Inasmuch as Toyota, Honda, and Nissan have added more jobs in the last few years than Ford, GM, and Chrysler have cut, you're actually doing more to support Americans than you would be if you bought the former.I used to work for GM, and most of our cars were largely built in Mexico or Canada... right across the border... or used transmissions and differentials from Japanese companies like Aisin, or engines made by European GM companies like Opel so that they didn't have to pay the workers' pensions and insurance here in the US. The automakers AND the UAW are both responsible for the decline of the American automobile... not the consumer. It's funny how so many conservatives - who are all about freedom of consumerism - get butthurt when you exercise your freedom by buying a foreign car that's better made, more reliable, better on gas, cheaper, and better looking.

Because they are idiots. Your car was made in the US so you put food on Americans table. Who cares if some of the money went to the Japanese billionaires? Would they rather you buy a GM car that was made in Mexico and have some of the money go to American Billionaires instead? So pretty much tell them to kiss your ***. Plus, it's your money and you bought the best car for you.

Because you bought a car that will last for 150-200,000 miles and will hold it's value.

Many of these smart folks have already answered it but here goes. Yes it holds a better resale. It lasts longer. It was primarily built in the United States...you know...the country that has its cars like Chevy and Ford built in Canada, Mexico, etc. Some people are just idiots with no real knowledge of just where and how a car is built and all the politics involved. Foreign cars as some uneducated Americans would call them, far surpass this crap with the Chevy and Ford emblems on them. So drive your Honda proudly and we salute you as a veteran who fought to protect the lands our lazy #ss ancestors schemed and stole from the American indians just before we decided to get slaves to do our developing and labor. Foreigners have fought hard for our market with integrity and morals while corporate America is so worried about getting richer they manufacture nearly everything out country to get richer while blue collar Americans work for peanuts. The economy will only get worse. Wise up people!

If only it was that simple. It is sad when patriotism is tightly linked to something as simple as someone purchasing a Honda or not purchasing a Honda, profits going overseas or profits not going overseas, someone serving in the military or someone not serving in the military. If only life was this simple.

In addition to American Car manufactures using Out of Country Subcontracted parts and labor ..... Take a look at the advancments in automation.... The UAW bullied the American car manufacters with outlandash salary's and demands they got smart an looked to advances in automation of the assembly plants.... Now a Machine does the work of lets say a half dozen humans... Machines do not require Pay Raises, Hopitalization, Lunch or Coffee breaks... Machines will gladly work 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.... Yup and you guessed it.... Most of the automation is coming from Asian Countries.... I hate to say it but the greed of the unions put us in the situation that we now face.... Add in the influx of CHEAP over the boarder labor... DEP and OSHA regulations dont help... Yup were saving the planet... but have ruined our economy doing it..... The tree huggers want a paperless society but my GOD don't throw a computer in a land fill.... I could go on and on... but this is a technical forum and I should have bit my tongue 10 sentences ago.....

Don't beleive any of this bull@%$#. It's your hard earned money. You buy
what you want. Most car manufacturers are using parts that are made
wherever they can get them the cheapest. It's easy to jump on a place
like Canada but our auto plants (GM) are closing too but they are moving
to places like Mexico(cheap labor) not the US.And By the way,two thirds
of the oil that the great USA uses every day comes from Canada. And we
buy a hell of a lot more goods from the US than The US buys from us
So, don't blame Canada???
