Great answers now how do i find the egr valve and how do i clean it out on a 91 honda civic?

the egr is located on the intake manifold. look for a valve that has a brass domed top about 3 1/2" in diameter with a vacuum hose going to i. the valve is held on by 2 bolts and has a gasket on the base.cleaning is done with aerosol carburetor cleaner or throttle body cleaner. remove the valve and stick the hose from the top of the can into the bore for the EGR as far as it will go. Then spray as you pull the hose out slowly. let it sit for about 15 minutes and do it again. let it soak for about 30 minutes then do it one more time and put the valve back on.you can try to clean the valve pintle by working the valve diaphram up and down using a vacuum pump (or your hand if you're gentle) then spray the cleaner into the port of teh valve with the pintle in the up position.usually the valve leaks from the diaphram if its not opening and cleaning won't help that.Autozone has some generic instructions for EGR valve replacements. you can follow the link below for more informationhope that helps
