Isnt that a non vtec motor and the d16y8 is a SOHC vtec motor. If I am correct that is like a mini me vtec swap. Here is a web site that has some info. Check it out first. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=554053

In addition to those parts in that link that Pearlfx posted, you're going to need 9 head bolts from the D15B engine, and 1 head bolt from a '96-'00 D-series engine. That 1 head bolt goes in the corner where the VTEC solenoid is located. Otherwise if you use any other head bolts (all '88-'95 or all '96-'00), the head isn't going to sit on the block properly and will leak at that corner.

it will work but you will need the bolt where the vtec solenoid sits so the head mounts on properly and you will need to have someone wire the vtec solenoid to the ecu if you dont know how to do it otherwise its a waste of time. but with that out of the way it will bolt up nicely. and you will have a vtec engine. if you can find the d15z6 head then that would be a better match for your block but any d series is interchangeable with d series, same as b series with b series and k series with k series h with h and so on.

Its called a mini me swap. its done all the time. If you want vtec your going to need the vtec solenoid on the y8 head and also a new ecu. im pretty sure the ecu code # is p28. you can get a deal for an ecu for about a hundred bucks. Your going to have to do some wiring also from the ecu to the solenoid.
