Brake pads on a 2007 Honda Civic LX start to wear down under 15,000 miles. Where are good places to get new OE pads? I tried Pep Boys and Super Autobacs, but got any other suggestions?
Best answer: 10 pointsI let my parents drive my car from time to time, so I think that's probably why my brakes wear down early. ![]() |

if you're going to replace them with non-honda pads I recommend Akebono Ceramic pads. I've used them on my Civics and they have less dust and wear a bit longer than the honda pads. they aren't as efficient cold but when they heat up they outbreak the originals.stay away from semi-metallic pads as they will chew up the rotors on the civic. go with either the organics like the factory pads or the ceramics.if you got time, order them online. Here's a link or you can search through Googlehttp://www.importrp.com/akebono.htmlI think Kragen handles the Akebono pads. they run about $50 a set but they're worth it.hope that helps

OE pads are only available through the dealer. You can get a variety of aftermarket pad qualities from any parts store. Honda's are pretty common after all. Usually there will be good/better/best options available from the major brands. I've had good luck and no returns on Raybestos Quiet Stops. As for the mileage, brakes wear depending on how much you use them, not how many miles you drive so while one driver may get 15k miles out of a set of pads, another driver in the same car might get 80k miles in the same car.
