Default The "D" light powers up for 3 seconds when the ignition switch is on ACC and then turns

off on 2008 Civic I have a 08 civic EX. When I put the ignition switch to ACC (the stage before actually starting the car), the "D" light in the tachometer compartment turns on for 3 seconds and then turns off. I have had the car for about 3 months and have noticed it always does this. is this normal? is so, what is that for? and should i wait for it to turn off before starting the car or not?

i believe you are talking about the D in transmission gauge thingy. you are automatic, not sure if its normal. you should try going to the dealership and check it out in another civic or just ask.

its a light check, if you started the car instaed of leaving in acc, it should still come on and the go off. it is normal. its when it lights up and stays on that there might be a problem

The light is working as it should. here's what it says on page 202 of your owner's manualThe ‘‘D’’ indicator comes on for afew seconds when you turn theignition switch to the ON (II)position. If it flashes while driving (inany shift position), it indicates apossible problem in the transmissionIf the malfunction indicator lampcomes on along with the ‘‘D’’indicator, there is a problem with theautomatic transmission controlsystem. Avoid rapid acceleration, andhave the transmission checked byyour dealer as soon as possible.hope that helps
