Coolant overflow tank overflowing
I have been haveing some issues with my 2001 Honda Civic. It started last winter when it would not kick out any heat unless i was going 55+. I just figured it was the thermostat so i put off getting it fixed. After a few months it started to overheat at stop lights or stop and go traffic and i was getting a coolant smell inside. So i got a new thermostat put in. It ran great for 2 weeks and then it started up again. Well now i noticed that the overflow tank was filled up to the top and when it was overheating the fans were not kicking on. So i bypassed the temp sensor for the fans and the fans checked good so i replaced the sensor. It stoped overheating at stop lights but the overflow was still full, and i still was getting the coolant smell. By this time it was getting to be spring so i was not using the heat as much so i am not sure if it is blowing heat below 55MPH. Now this summer it has not overheated at all, not even on 90+ degree days. But the radiator is low and the overflow tank is still almost to the top. So i replaced the Radiator cap, which did nothing. I just had it in for the timing belt and water pump so i had the guy do a Combustion test and he said it tested good. So he topped off the radiator and bled the system. Drove the car home and the same thing the coolant is back to the top of the overflow tank. Does anyone have any ideas?
