Default Rain leak Honda CRV driver floorboard

I am a female Honda 2000 CRV owner (no sun roof). My car just recently developed a rain leak in the driver floorboard. This only happens when the car is parked on a level surface, everything closed up tightly---very quickly, as much as an inch of water appears, but only in a downpour. My mechanic tried using a water hose, and thorough inspection of door seals, etc., and could find nothing. He says the next thing is to leave it with him so he can take it all apart, and even then, there is no guarantee that he can find it . Help! Anyone out there know anything I can tell him to expedite the process???
