what year is the Accord? Honda has an extended warranty on the EGR valve and tube replacement on the 1998-2000 accords and on the 2001 V-6 accord because of problems with carbon plugging the egr tubes. the warranty was extended to 8 years or 80,000 miles so it may be eligible for replacement under warranty if you are within that age and mileage.Remove the throttle body cover, intake manifoldcovers, ignition wire holder, and ignition wire cover.Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose and thevacuum hose from the intake manifold.Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold(two nuts and two bolts). Leave all hoses, cables, and electrical connectors connected to the throttlebody. Discard the throttle body gasketRemove the PCV valve from the cylinder headcover. Remove the intake manifold (three nuts andsix bolts).Remove the intake manifold chamber, IAT sensor, boost plate, and PCV hose from the intakemanifold.Cover the six ports on the bottom of the manifoldwith duct tape.Use an 8-mm drill bit and carburetor cleaner toclean the EGR port in the intake manifold. Turn thedrill bit only by hand. Do not use a power drill. To replace the egr tubePut the special drill bit from the EGR pipeinstallation kit in your power drill. Coat the drill bitcompletely with clean engine oil.NOTE: The oil coating is critical to drilling the holeaccurately, and it contributes to drill bit life.Insert the guide part of the drill bit into the EGRport. Make sure it is inserted fully. Then drill out theEGR port using steady pressure on the drill. Makesure the port is drilled through completely.Clean up the aluminum chips from drilling, thenremove the duct tapePut the manifold in a parts washer (solvent or soapand water) and clean it thoroughly.• Flush out the EGR port for 20 seconds.• Flush out the manifold from the throttle bodyopening. Run cleaner down each side for 20seconds.• Flush each intake runner for 10 seconds. Start atthe throttle body end and work towards the back.• Turn the manifold so the throttle body opening isfacing down. Flush each main runner for 20seconds.• Dry the manifold with compressed air and cleanshop towels.Place the EGR pipe from the kit into the EGR portUse the installation tool and a small hammer todrive the EGR pipe into the port until it is flush withthe port. Make sure the pipe will not contact thegasket after installation.Install the intake manifold chamber; torque the nutsand bolts to 12 N·m (8.7 lb-ft). Install the IATsensor; torque it to 18 N·m (13 lb-ft). Install theboost plate; torque the bolts to 12 N·m (8.7 lb-ft).Install the PCV hose.Inspect the EGR port in the front of the injectorbase on the engine. If it is partially or fully clogged, clean the port.TO REPLACE THE EGR without doing the EGR tube jump over the procedure to ream the intake and install the new tube and start again here with the intake removedDisconnect the 6P connector from the EGR valve.Remove the EGR valve by removing the two nuts that hold the valve to the intake.Install the new EGR valve with a new gasket.Torque the mounting nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb-ft).Reconnect the 6P connectorInstall the intake manifold with the original gasket.Torque the mounting nuts and bolts to 22 N·m (16lb-ft) sequentially in two or three steps. Route thePCV hose so it is not pinched under the intakemanifoldInstall the PCV valve in the cylinder head cover. Install the throttle body with a new gasket. Torquethe mounting nuts and bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb-ft).Reinstall the brake booster vacuum hose, vacuumhose, ignition wire holder, and all of the covershope that helps
