Default Can you enable the car alarm on a new honda your self?

I recently (saturday) bought a 2008 Honda fit from my local dealer. They wanted to charge me 900 dollars to keep my alarm enabled. Does anyone know how to enable these yourself? I can't imagine its very difficult, i assume they only cut a chord of some kind.By the way, I love the car, amazing gas mileage, very room, handles great.Thank you for your answer, however, my keys came with a panic button which does not work since they disabled my alarm. Is this a mistake? Or is this what I should expect?

the add-on alarm that the dealer 'disabled" cannot be re-enabled by you because they took out the control unit and will reinstall that unit in another car.there really is little benefit to trying to replace that unit. all those 'alarms' add to the factory system is a vibration sensor to set the alarm off if someone trys to break a window. Usually all that sensor does is set the alarm off when a heavy truck goes by.the car comes standard with an anti-theft alarm that will go off if someone opens the door without using a key or the keyless remote to unlock the door after you've locked it. if someone breaks the window then opens the door your factory alarm will go off.the car also has immobilizer on it from the factory which will not allow the car to be started without using your keys. each key has a chip in it that is matched to the individual car so even if they get in the car they can't 'hot wire' it.its up to you to determine if you need the extra level of security of the vibration sensor. if you think you do, you can get that type of alarm installed at the big box electrical stores for much much less than $900.hope that helps
