There is actually a place that makes a swap kit for the B-series into the older mini coopers. It retails somewhere in the $6000 range. The only other parts you have to buy with it is the motor and ECU. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the company but I was reading about it a few months ago. Can you imagine a Built B18C turboed in a older mini cooper?
