Default Recharge 91 accord AC?

I have a 91 accord and I wanted to find out if it is a bad idea to get a do-it-yourself air conditioning recharge kit. They range from $10-$35. And it seems like I always hear people saying not to do it and it will make it worse or mess it up. I dont have any problems with it now, just thought it might blow colder with a good charge... Let me know what you think. Thanks -Eazy
