Default Strange noise coming from 2005 Honda Civic LX (tire/wheel related??)?

I have found a similar honda civic issue reported by D.Vader. Unfortunately, could not get in touch with the author, therefore do not know how the issue was resolved. D.Vader wrote: "...I heard a strange noise. As I accelerate from 30mph up - I start to hear a constant "revving/humming" noise. It starts out low, and rather deep sounding, and as I speed up, it gets faster and higher pitched. Until, basically it sounds like I'm driving my car in 3rd gear when I should be in 4th. When I slow down, I hear the noise get lower and slower until it disappears. I don't hear it at idle or below 25-30 mph. My car shifts fine, and the rpms are where they should be so it's not actually "revving"...that's just what the noise sounds like. I've inspected the tires and they all look fine. But, it basically sounds like I have a small motorcycle stuck in 3rd gear driving next to my car at 60-75mph.''I am having the same issue. I know the noise is not tire related (new tires). Wheel bearing?

This IS a serious answer. Your power steering pump may be going bad. Pop the hood while the car is running and raise the R.P.M's Take a screwdriver and place the tip on top of the pump and rest your ear on the handle. You will hear any noise travel through the screwdriver. If it sounds like your noise then there you go. The reason why it could be that is for one, it's happened to me and #2 the pump spins with the motor at the same R.P.M.'s so that's why it will sound different at different speeds. yes it sounds like from what you described it's your wheel bearing to find out for sure you can do this. Take your car and put it on jack stands, take off your wheels, take off your brakes, don't disconnect the brake lines, just move the caliper out of the way. Then start the car and put it in gear and get it up to speed and go listen to it the bad bearing will whine a lot and that's the one you replace. If you need more info e-mail me. Done a few of those.
