Default 1997 Honda Civic HX CVT - Transmission?

So I have a 1997 Honda Civic HX CVT - has like 118-119k miles on it.

Its been getting werid... every morning when i start the car...let it warm up for like 3 minutes and then get on the road.

I notice when I gas (i'm not playing with the accelerator) the car like lags and accelerate, lags then accelerate, i look at the tachometer and the meter keeps going up and down.

So It's freaking me out, scares the heck out of me when i'm on the free way. But when it gets like later in teh day like around 10am, its fine.

DO i really need to use honda CVT fluid? isn't the fluid better for the newer cars like only for the hybrids? can't i just use regular atf?
