Default honda civic's as street racers? good or bad choice?

i want a car thats good on fuel , but i dont want to risk getting some lame slow car thats only good for gas mileage i mean come on, i initally wanted a mustang Lx , but as we all know they suck at gas mileage , they are fast but they are suckky at gas and i dont want the gas prices to kill me , so i was thinking of a honda civic, maybe a honda civic si 1999 with a turbo and a b16 type engine , or a hatch back , i mean are they even fast enough with all these mods, i mean they are fwd wont that make a difference, also whats better and cooler , the 1999 coupe si or a hatch back , i mean , like whats more attractive , what will turn more heads , what colour would be nice, are they fast for racing with turbos and b16's and such but like will they still get good gas mileage and how much , do any of u guys have a daily driver civic with a turbo and b16 engine and what gas mileage are u getting , do girls think guys are attractive in these kind of cars if they are fast and stuff ? nice body?

Incredibly bad choice. For one, street racing is illegal, so you're already off to a bad start.Secondly, Civics are neither fast, nor attractive. They've been known to be slow for a very long time, and they're overdone. You're not going to get much attention at all, for having a car that everyone else has already done.Third, adding a turbo to your car, will decrease the mileage significantly, destroying your intent of having a car good on gas.Fourth, yes, they're FWD, and that will kill any chance of serious performance.Find a better choice.

you'd have to hook it up, put turbo, get better wheels, body kit (take away the "hey lets pick up groceries" look), nos maybecivics aren't that fast even with turbo, the new ones are (they have potential because the car comes stock with 200 or somewhere higher)EDIT: I agree, only a true lame would give thumbs down when seeking answers like this, they'd be happier with NO ANSWER

The 99-00 civic si are only in coup from and did not come Hatchback unless it was an engine swap. the Si gets good mileage but with a turbo that's going to drop a little bit because they are N/A engines. It also depends on how big and what type of turbo you are going to get. These days girls don't really care as long as it's not a hoopty car. The more HP the more gas it will use and less mileage. I don't put or want a turbo on my civic because it will suck more gas and right now gas prices suck. the b16 is an old engine but still a good one, I myself want to do a b18C5 or K20A swap on my civic coup, Its more HP then the B16 by 25-40 stock. The only difference in the hatchback is that it will be a lighter car and faster as there is less weight. I say get what you want and do a little reteach on what you want.

Civics are hella good cars, great on gas and very reliable they wont ever let you down they are also sick cars for tuning and racing on the streets ! you just gatta experiment wit da parts, you should get a 94-96 and yes their is a crazy ass amount of aftermarket parts for hondas !! go with a b18 or an h22 motor you can get some nice ones on ebay or craigslist, then look for some bolt on parts, ,get an aftermarket exhuast, headers, cold air intake , intercooler. and if you can maybe even a turbo bro ,, wit all that damn you gat yourself a fast ****n car, hella broadz r gonna wanna ride in yo car bro ,

go NA bro i think its more appreciated to some..and you'll salvage a coinciderable amount of mileage...to the hater talking **** u've seen some crappy civics then i guess because i have a NA 95 with a b18 and other parts...yeah stock gt's arent **** to me and i still get 25-30 mpg i like the 99 coupes im my opinion i think the newest hatches (after the Ek) are ugly as hell...civics are awesome ...theyre cheap tons of inexpensive parts and u can bulid them fast w/ good reliablity and mileage....

street racing is wrong, even though it is thrilling it is wrong! Take it to the track! The street racing on Westheimer is already causing a rise in taxes, just pay the 10-20 bucks to get into the track and race there. If you have a Civic preference, then you know what makes you smile, get that! Also if you have a Civic with a GSR swap, and a turbo, the V8's will be trying to catch you! Trust me, these cars are great for tuning and are VERY light!Don't get me wrong, I do do a little street myself, but I quit before it gets dangerous! I will not take it passed 60 when on city streets, on the beltway? Well that's a different story. I happily smoked a Camaro today, V6 and such a great flavor to it! HAHA! MMM... Camaro's my favorite breakfast food!

Civics are very popular as racers. (Street racing, don't). Civics are already known for the fuel economy & reliability but they also have a strong aftermarket.

it depends on the girls. Some girls would prefer the mustang. The problem with honda is you are getting good gas mileage, but you are also losing potential horse power. As for the Si it is somewhat rare. But if you find one, the blue color is nice.
