Default Refund from Honda?

My husband got a phone call yesterday from Honda saying that they are sending us a refund, that we overpaid for our car. He had bad reception, so I'm not sure if it's actually Honda or American Honda, who are car was financed through. The only thing I can think that makes sense is that we may be getting a partial refund due to refinancing. We refinanced through another bank a few days after making a payment, so I wonder if that payment hadn't processed yet and so we were refinanced for more than we should have been? Our car is an '06 Accord, bought brand new.Unfortunately, his phone was cutting out at the time they told him the amount so I don't even have that to work with in trying to figure this out.Has anyone had any kind of experience with something like this? Why would we get a refund?

maybe from the finance department about how much the monthly payment is or what. not sure. seems weird since i know for a fact any car dealers would not say in a million years that they overpriced a car they sold to you. it's not the dealer and might be the bank or something.

I bought a new honda last month, and received a rebate check in the mail for $300. Something about tax rebate. This check was signed by the dealer, not honda america financing. I'm as perplexed as you.

when the balance was paid off it showed a credit balance. You therefore get a refund. Happened to me.

This happens often. We over estimate your pay off, the same as the bank you refinanced with. This way if the amount they pay is more you get a refund. If they underestimate they would want to come for you for the difference. If your payoff was $10,000 as of the end of the month but they didn't payoff your loan till half way through the next month. Your balance would be more due to interest. But they get a PER DIEM from your lender and pay about 2-3 weeks past your pay off date. This makes it safe for your new lender and safe for you.
