1. Go used and save a few thousand while getting some options. Yes that's the MSRP on the base model, but don't count on finding a base Civic. Dealers rarely order stripped out cars because people usually want some options in the car(power windows/locks etc.)2. Yes they are generally very reliable.3. Yes, but I'd recommend you go used and also check out the Mazda 3.

if you plan financing and also plan on keeping the vehicle for a while after you are done paying it find something that will grow with you... since you are looking at the coupe but plan on having a family soon choose the four door its easier to get a car seat in and out...... think ahead..... yes honda is reliable but choose used get last years model or better an 05 its gone enough so that its inexpensive and has many good features.... good luck

sweet, this is right up my alley, i own an 08 Civic LX coupe =) 1) Base model is 15,000. Your talking DX, rarely found, no power windows or anything, cheapo car. For a LX, which has power everything (but no sunroof/6 disc cd changer/alloys like the EX) realistically your looking at more around $17,000 manual, i got an Auto, got it for about 17,500 before tax and stuff. 2) Reliable? Of course! Put a few thousand miles on it its running well, no problems (touch wood) and i don't forsee any problems happening with it anytime soon. 3) I would definately recommend it, i do a lot of highway driving and i get about 32-35mpg. It's really comfortable to drive, even in bumper to bumper traffic and its smooth and powerful enough that you really don't feel like its an economy car. The only things i don't like is that there's no remote trunk unlock button on the key and there's no lock on the glove box! Other than that, its a great car, i love it and wouldn't trade it for any other comparable car!
