My honda civic has been running rough and jerking, I've taken it in to many shops and they couldn't find the problem. I've replaced the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter, air filter, and tps sensor. usually in the lower gear it will seem to jerk forward as if it needs to shift but doesn't, the shops did diagnostics on it but still couldn't find the problem. Does anyone have any other idea's on what could be wrong with this car?

Have you checked the belt? Also, the water pump? My water pump was going, and it would sometimes seize, which caused the drive belt to stick. That could also cause something like the jerking you are experiencing. Sometimes it also wouldn't turn over. In my case I didn't realize what was going on, and the belt broke. I had to have the engine rebuilt.Another thought is the transmission. Perhaps you have a tooth missing on one of the gears, or there is debris in your tranny.

maybe the engine and transmission mounts i had the same exact problem with my integra till i replaced all of them now its smooth
