Default I have a Honda civic 94' manual transmission and my 2nd gear slips every time, help,...

...clutch or transmission? The car runs great except for that when i shift to 2nd gear it grinds and i have to skip it. i drive from 1st to 3rd, 4th, 5th, and reverse work fine.is it the clutch or the transmission??

If it grinds - it is the gear (or more accurately the syncro mesh). If it goes in and out of gear easily enough, yet the car engine revs without the car accelerating accordingly, it is the clutch.Good Luck...

It has to be the transmission. Either the synchros, or a shifter problem not allowing the 2nd. gear to mesh for 2nd. only.

The slipping is the clutch and the grinding is the syncro mesh for that gear =bad tranny. But a used tranny is only around 300 dollers in a salvage yard if you really need 2nd gear.
