Question Door lock redundancy (so annoying).. how do you fix?

I have a 1993 Civic EX, and I was wondering if there was a way to disable the door lock redundancy where you have to hold open door handle to lock the door without using the key.

.. that junk is annoying.

Is there a way to disable that? I've already checked the manual supplied on this site, and searched the net.. (there is a way to disable auto locking.. on newer models) but what about something like that, but with this problem and on the 93?

is anyone at least annoyed at this?
or am I the only one here who's experiencing this "feature"?
