Default honda accord. 3,4,6 cylinder???

do the cylinders change automatically like if you floored it would it go to six and if like you don't want to accelerate fast would it stay in 4 cylinders or do you have to change it to 4 cylinders then when you wanna go fast u change it to 6 cylinder. and would it save fuel?

in short the answer is no. All engine cylinders in an internal combustion engine are in sync, or timed. So in effect each gear turns a little after ther other. Accelerating simply increses speed by raising the RPMs of all cylinders. take your foot off the gas the RPM's slow down. Some cars claim to take away cylinders to decrease gas mileage. in effect they really just engineer away to adjust the timing according to your driving habits. Hondas VTEC will make the car drive faster in high RPMS, and burn less gas when driving slow. sorta like cutting on and off cylinders. If a car cyclinder was not firing then the car will perform very poor. There is a much better explaination but it seems like you needed a simple answer.

At low rpms, it only runs on 3 cylinders. By 3 cylinders I mean that the valves don't open and the injectors don't spray into the other 3 cylinders. At a certain rpm, an oil pressure switch activated the other 3 cylinders, opening the valves as normal, and it begins spraying fuel into the combustion chamber. Here's some more info on it: http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...hon/index.html
