Default Buying 2001 Honda Accord, i'm not sure if all information is real, help please!?

I'm about get a used 01 Honda Accord form a private seller but I just want to make sure that the information is true. Basically the main concern is the mileage, 53k I know is good mileage but the thing is that I know some people can change the odometer to whatever they want (which is illegal) but is difficult to check since is a digital one. There is something that I'm kinda wondering about: we got a carfax report on the car and last time the mileage was recorded was at about 3k miles but the problem is the apparently unnecessary change of the timing belt because supposedly is not necessary to change it until about 60k and the carfax report said it has been changed; the car's odometer is on 53k so why would it be changed early? So I'm thinking, worst case scenario the car actually has more miles than it says it has if the timing belt was changed at 60k+ and the seller illegally changed the odometer. Do you think this might be a sing of a tampered odometer? what do you think about this?Well actually I read that digital odometers even though they were made to make it manually harder for someone to change, they're actually easier because some people buy an electronic device and connects it to the odometer changing the mileage very easy, that's why I was concerned. Also the carfax report says the belt was changed in 2004, so you can calculate that the vehicle was at maybe 30k miles at the time, which is too early to do that. I'm suspitious about the car now that I examined the report and after talking with some people about it and I decided not to buy the car anymore. Thanks to everyone who answered anyways.

Many people have maintenance done BEFORE it is due, so there is a good chance they have the timing belt replaced before 60,000 miles. If the timing belt breaks it can ruin the entire engine, so many people have it done before it is due.Odometer fraud is pretty uncommon these days, especially with the new digital odometers. The only way to 'roll back' a digital odometer is to replace it, which usually takes more labor and parts cost than someone would save by selling a vehicle with lower mileage. Bottom line: Buy the car and don't worry.

Those digital ones are really hard to tamper with, and like the person above said, it would be more cash to replace than saved. Take a look at the dash if your really worried, look for any damage or anything that could occur from prying it out. You should be fine though, it's highly unlikely that you are gonna buy that car with false mileage.

The timing belt is supposed to be changed at like 90K OR 7 years. Given that the car is 7-8 years old depending on when it was purchased, it would make sense that the belt has been changed. This seems like the more likely explanation than a rolled back odometer, which is rather difficult with the digital ones.
