2004 Honda Civic SI A/C problem. Paying 3,000 under blue book?
I'm buying a 2004 SI from a small time dealer. It has 52,000 miles on it, has a few minor scuffs on the body, 2 tires are worn, 2 look pretty new. I've taken the thing on a 2 hour test drive. Highway, side streets, up and down the hills. Absolutely no problems, no leaks, nothing. The only problem I've found is that the a/c doesn't blow very hard? I mean, I put my hand up to the vent and it's cold, and there's air coming out but it's just not working correctly. I was in the car on the highway for half an hour and it still hadn't cooled down the car in 96 degree heat. I've never owned a civic before so I can't speak for the fan speed that should exist, but I get some type of rattle in the compressor area every time I turn it on. Is this just a faulty fan? He's going to have it looked at by "his mechanics" on Monday, and I've only put $200 down on it. He's holding it for me until I get my financing approved.
The other odd thing is that I'm getting this car for $10,800 out the door. This includes tax and smog etc... Basically paying $9700 for it before tax. This is roughly 3+ grand BELOW KBB. Normally I'd be worried, but I just don't see any problems with it and the Carfax checks out. This guy just swears he's trying to turn good cars for a modest profit. I don't trust dealers by any means, but I just don't see how I'm getting this car so cheap. It's in great shape, drives like a dream and only has 52,000 miles on it? Even if there's a major AC problem, which I doubt, I think I'm getting this car for a steal?
Some input please guys!!!
