they both has their own fan bases. but you will have alot more variety with the b16. both will produce about the same amount of power for the same amount of money stock. but after market there is jsut alot mroe for the b16 than the k20. alot of the k20 owners usually upgrade the engine to the k24 because of the better torque curve so if you dont have the money for a k24 which is any where from 3000-5000 go with teh b16 tons of cheap parts from every where

It really depends on if you want old technology that has more parts out there at probably cheaper prices, or if you want the newer technology, but pay more for parts to make it faster, and have a less of a market for it. The K20 has the smaller market, with higher cost, but it uses new technology, the B16 is a great engine, a lot of Honda owners favorite in fact, there's a huge market for it and its not that expensive.

the guy at the top has some what of a clue about what he is talking about. I live sleep and breath Honda's and yes there are more aftermarket parts for the b16a2(99-00Si) but there are still a lot of aftermarket parts for the k20a and the k20a is A LOT faster, it has 220hp stock where as the b16a2 has 160hp, the k20 has 152 lb/ft torque where as the b16a2 has 111 lb/ft torque, so if your looking for speed the k20 is the way to go because the b16a2 ant much at all in the coupe it comes in, everyone that my shop has worked on has been swapped in a 88-91 or a 92-95 or 96-98 model hatches makes a BIG difference b/c of weight. I say k20 but its up to you......

I would choose the B16 hands downs. But if you was planning on boosting the car later down the road it wouldn't matter. But for stock power they are pretty close. And no they don't have 220hp more like 160hp they have the same motor as the base model RSX.

some people just dont know what they are talkin about. frankie is right. but the b16a is a jdm motor(japanese motor) b16a2 is american. i have a 2000 civic s.i with a b16a2 and a 2000 hatchback with a b16b( civic type r. jdm) if i had the money i would go k20. its a much better engine and theres a tond of aftermarket stuff for it already. the jdm k20 does come with 225 hp. and an lsd tranny. the k20 type r has aout 158 torque. the b16a wich is jdm has 165 hp. just about the same as what the k20 has in torque alone... if money is not a problem go with a k20 oh and the k20 comes with a 6 speed manual transmission with lsd( limited slip differentia)...but also think about the b18c motor.. thats a jdm integra type r. look into it comes with 200 hp and 134 torque. comes with a 5 speed lsd. about 2500 cheaper than a k20 swap. a k20 all motor vs a turbo integra gsr and a turbo b16a2 si.. hopefully this will help you decide
