Default Why does pushing the clutch make the noise go away?
I own a honda civic dx 1997 coupe and when i start the car theres a whirring noise coming from the transmission I searched this question and found one similar except i just replaced the clutch and the bearing and all that is brand new but the noise is still there i didnt resurface or replace the flywheel though does anyone think that could be it ? Please auto-mechanics answer i really need to fix this problem thank you all !

Sounds like the flywheel needs replacing to me xx

You probably need to adjust the free travel in the clutch petal and the throw out bearing is running all the time. The flywheel would have nothing to do with the noise.

Maybe forgot to but a new throw out bearing or the new one is defective.

It could be inside the transmission and not a clutch problem at all.

You're not making any sense. How can you start the car and hear a noise if you don't have the clutch pushed in?

When the clutch is engaged the tranny's not in gear. Sounds like you need a rebuild on your tranny or replacement flywheel.

they might of just switch the clutch and pilot bearing but not the throw out bearing because the throw out bearing is behind the flywheel..

The plate that covers the flywheel under the tranny body could be touching the flywheel. Check to see if thats the problem. I hope it works.
