Default 93 ACCORD BELT CHANGE SCHEDULE ?

REF: '93 HONDA ACCORD 123,000 KM AUTOMATIC 4 DOOR

The OWNER'S MANUAL maintenance schedule has the belts replaced at 144,000 km, BUT it is a "recommended only" job. What does this mean? It is not really neccessary ? ?

Where will I find DEFINITIVE HONDA ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION?
