Default New Projector Lights, Do I need an HID kit?

So I was doing some reading and from what I understand, HID kits are pretty much not street legal unless they come stock on your vehicle. Is this right or did I misunderstand something?I was thinking about getting some regular bulbs that will just plug into the light sockets for my 98 Honda Civic to go with the new projectors I am thinking about getting. Are the lights with the sockets called Halogens? So would adding regular bulbs work or would I need to get an HID kit?

Projectors for your Civic only except halogens which are basically the normal size bulbs for vehicles. The HID lights might be able to fit in your projectors with some modification but be careful as HID setups run much hotter than a Halogen bulbs and you may melt the projector housing. HID kits are normally street legal, but read the fine print. Opt for PIAA bulbs or Sylvania SilverStars if you want a nice bright bulb, without havin' to worry about HID meltdown. Good Luck.

Do not put HIDs in your stock headlight. The light will not be even, it scatters, and blinds the oncoming drivers. The stock headlights are not designed to reflect the HID. Projectors are used together with HIDs because it cuts off the beam from going into oncoming drivers eyes, and focuses it on the road.if your looking for the best light output, go with HIDs and a projector. mind you ebay projector kits can be good or very bad. if you dont want to spend all that money, just buy some silvania bulbs. they have a lighting chart on their website that show you the different bulbs. im sure you would be more than happy just getting some sylvania silverstar bulbs
